Vito V. Scalissi

MADISON - Vito V. Scalissi, age 89, died peacefully at St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness on Sunday, May 3, 2009. Vito was born in Madison on Nov. 16, 1919, to Elizabeth (Licali) and George Scalissi. He grew up in the Greenbush neighborhood along with brothers, Joe, John, Ted, George and sisters, Mary, Josephine, Fanny, Ninfa, Sally and Betty. For most of his adult life, Vito lived and worked in Davenport, Iowa. His love of family and friends brought him back to Madison for frequent trips. Vito will be remembered for his humor, generosity and fun-loving spirit. He was proud of his Italian heritage and visited Italy on several occasions. His family will celebrate his life at a private memorial.
