Steven M. Salley

Steven M. “Steve” Salley, age 69, of Cambridge, WI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2026.

Born on August 25, 1956 in Rockford,IL, a son of John "Jack" and Mary (Maxwell) Salley. He graduated in 1974 from Rockford East High School. Steve was an Eagle Scout and loved spending his childhood summers on Lake Ripley with his family. He was a gifted woodworker that could turn a piece of lumber into something beautiful and lasting. Whether crafting furniture, building houses, or creating projects, he took pride in working with his hands and sharing his talents.

A devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Sundays during football season were often spent cheering on his favorite team. He also had a life long passion for NASCAR, specifically Dale Earnhardt, rarely missing a race and enjoying every minute of it. One of his greatest hobbies was collecting and operating model trains. He found joy in building layouts, maintaining his collection, and sharing his enthusiasm with others.

In his younger years, Steve proudly served his community as a volunteer fire fighter in Marshall, WI. Those years of service remained a source of pride throughout his life. He was comfortable in his own company and found happiness in the things he loved most - his hobbies, his work and the people closest to him.

Survivors include his three daughters Brook (Cory) Stenjem, Lindsey (Tim) Dahl and Chelsey (Mike Johnson) Bauler. He's also survived by seven grandchildren, Carter, Clayton and Kinsley Stenjem, Quinn and Beckett Dahl, and Bentley and Colby Bauler. Other survivors include his three sisters Gail (Al) Beard, Jennifer (Dave) Gennis, and Kathy (Mark) Kratzer.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, John Salley and his mother, Mary Salley. A private family gathering will take place to honor Steve's wishes.
