Shirley M. Hargraves

SUN PRAIRIE – Shirley Mae (Lund) Hargraves, age 96, passed away at her home on Thursday, July 30, 2026. She was born in Cambridge, Wis., on April 29, 1930, the daughter of John and Clarice (Gilbertson) Lund.

She was raised on the family farm and was her father’s “hired man”. She married Jerome Hargraves in 1949. They enjoyed 67 years of marriage until his passing in 2016 at the age of 88. She was a homemaker and helped Jerome operate Hargraves Rexall Drugs in DeForest. They moved to Sun Prairie in 1997, where she proceeded to live for almost 30 years in the amazing community of Olympic Village. She spent many years being active in clubhouse activities but through the years, narrowed her sights on playing euchre, bingo, and pizza parties.

Shirley is survived by a son, Donald Hargraves; two daughters, Vickie Huppeler and Dena Rank; a grandson, Taylor (Tabatha) Rank; two amazing great-grandchildren, Killian and Piper; and two sisters, Ruth and Donna.

In addition to her husband, Jerome, Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lowell, Stanley, and Richard (Katy); and sisters, Carol, Elaine (Darwin), and Jean (Rune); and son-in-law, John Huppeler.

Per Shirley’s request, there will be no services. Burial will be private at a later date. Memorials in Shirley’s name can be made to Christ Lutheran Church in DeForest.
