Rodolfo Sanchez Teniente

Rodolfo “Rudy” Sanchez Teniente, aged 86, passed away on October 27, 2025. Born on January 18, 1939, in San Luis Potosí, México to Guadalupe Sanchez and Josè Concepción Teniente.

Rodolfo grew up in Mexico with his mother, brothers, and sisters in economic hardship. He was ten years old before he owned a pair of shoes. He developed a strong work ethic in order to survive which brought him to work as a migrant worker in Wisconsin where he met and married the love of his life, Socorro. After moving around to different U.S. states, they landed in Madison, Wisconsin where he eventually began working at the GTE telephone company in Sun Prairie in the 1970’s. He settled into his work as a cable splicer that allowed him to purchase a house and provide for his family. He stayed there until he retired. Rodolfo was ingenious and creative in his ability to fix machines, work on cars, or home repairs. Family was very important to Rodolfo who once said the only reason he didn’t have more children was because he didn’t have more money. He was loyal to his mother, keeping her close to his own family, so he could care for her. He also supported his wife with her commitment to supporting family and community. He had a sweet tooth and indulged in his wife’s excellent cooking. Rodolfo believed it was important for his children to know where they came from, often taking the whole family to México to get to know their relatives. He loved babies and couldn’t get enough of watching his grandchildren grow up. Rodolfo was also a storyteller and would tell stories about his childhood, the struggle of growing up poor, being an immigrant, and funny stories about his children and grandchildren as babies. Rodolfo was a fan of classic comedy, jokes, and giving unsolicited advice. He was a proud man who was also well-known for his direct approach to telling it like it is. Despite his tough exterior, Rodolfo was sentimental, nostalgic, yet optimistic about the future of his children and grandchildren. Dad, you will be missed.

Rodolfo was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Socorro Teniente. He was the proud father of five children: Javier Teniente, and his wife, Danielle; Maria Teniente; Sarah Teniente; Rita Teniente Nuñez, and her husband, Ivan Nuñez; and Jessica Teniente de Gómez, and her husband, Hector Gómez. Rodolfo loved all his grandchildren: Gabriel, Marquíz, Haley, Liliana, Hunter, Pablo, Nayeli, Solana, Neblina, and Odin—who brought joy to his life.

A Celebration of Rodolfo’s Life will be held at THE LOFT AT 132, 132 Market Street, Suite 200, Sun Prairie on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 2 p.m.
