Rodney Herman Nellen, age 60, passed away peacefully at UW Hospital with his family and friends by his side on Friday, July 3, 2026. Rodney was born in Madison, Wis., on October 8, 1965, to Herman and Barb (Kuhn) Nellen.
Rodney graduated from DeForest High School in 1983 and worked as a Digital Printer at Econo Print for 38 years. Rodney married the love of his life and best friend Cheryl on October 15, 1988. Rodney will be remembered as being a wonderful husband to his wife Cheryl; a devoted father to his son Trevor and daughter Marissa; and a loving Papa to his granddaughter Alora. Rodney enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, camping, scuba diving, biking, traveling to the Minocqua area and vacationing in Mexico. He also enjoyed coaching Trevor and Marissa’s softball games. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Rodney is survived by his wife, Cheryl; daughter, Marissa; granddaughter, Alora; mother, Barb; brothers, Dan Nellen, Jim (Brenda) Nellen, Tony Nellen, and Tim Nellen; sister, Bonnie (Troy) Ellinger; nephews, Mitch Nellen, Mark Nellen, Ryan Nellen, Brett Nellen, and Zack Raether; nieces, Kenna Lewandowski and Kayla Raether; father-in-law, Jerry Raether; sister-in-law, Shari Raether; and many family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Trevor Nellen; father, Herman Nellen; brother-in-law, Jeff Raether; mother-in-law, Patricia Raether; and many other family and friends.
The family invites you to join them in a Celebration of Rodney’s Life on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the WADDLE INN, N1430 WI-113, Lodi.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff in the ICU at UW Hospital for their compassion and great care as well as the love and support provided by many family and friends.
