Richard "Dick" Plisch, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025. Born on June 22, 1946, in Shawano, WI, he lived most of his life in Marshfield and Stevens Point, with his beloved wife of 53 years, Judith, who predeceased him in February of this year.
Dick was raised in Mattoon and graduated from Antigo High School in 1964 before moving to Milwaukee to become a Radiology Tech through study at Columbia Hospital, where he began his career. There, he met and married Judi in 1971 and moved to Marshfield to work at St. Joseph's Hospital a few years later. He also worked at St. Michael's Hospital in Stevens Point, retiring after a career of over 40 years in healthcare.
Dick loved spending summers at Lower Buckatabon Lake in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, where he and Judi owned a place for over 40 years. He was the captain of their boat and enjoyed fishing, water sports, and sunset cruises, especially on their pontoon "Time Well Spent." He was an avid crappie fisherman, always in search of the best color twister tail and just the right twilight moment for them to hit. He was happiest fishing with Judi and friends. He loved pulling water skiers and a great number of children learned to ski behind his boat, discovering that the only payment he would accept was a Peanut Butter Twix and a Coke.
Dick was always a helper. He volunteered to support all of his children's activities in band, scouts, theater, and more. He was known to make frequent trips to the grocery store or fabric store to get "just one more thing" for any of Judi's baking or sewing projects. Affectionately known as "Doc" among friends, he could always be trusted to serve as gopher for any project in the campground and was a willing participant in numerous Fourth of July parades, serving memorably as Abraham Lincoln and other characters when asked.
He is survived by his daughter, Turi (Linwood Watson) and son, Brent (Erin Plisch), and his grandchildren, Aspen and Skye Watson, and Gunnar and Anja Plisch, as well as his brother Armin "Skip" Plisch. In addition to his wife, Judith, he was predeceased by his parents Anne and Leonard Plisch. He will be greatly missed by numerous other relatives and friends.
A memorial service is planned at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stevens Point, WI at 10:30 am on Friday, December 5, with a lunch to follow. The family would like to thank Brighton Hospice Services for their care of Dick in the last months of his life.
