Peggy A. Schaper, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and long-time Madison realtor, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg, Wisconsin, at the age of 79, after battling colon cancer.
Born on April 18, 1946, in Carmel, California, Peggy was the daughter of Robert and Alice (Regge) Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Michael, Jerry, and Gary Moore.
Peggy married the love of her life, Donald "Gus" Schaper, on October 22, 1966, sharing over 60 years together. Their bond was evident in their shared passions, from riding their Harley-Davidson motorcycle in their younger years to cruising in their Mustang convertible more recently.
Peggy dedicated 30 years to her career as a realtor, a profession she approached with integrity and a deep sense of responsibility. She often said she would never sell anyone a house that she wouldn't put her own kids in. Beyond her professional life, Peggy treasured her role as a grandmother, relishing every moment spent with her grandchildren. She was known for her great sense of humor, which remained with her even until the end.
Peggy is survived by her devoted husband, Donald "Gus" Schaper; her daughters, Dawne Burdick (Brett) and Shannon Marchewka (John); and her cherished grandchildren, Alex Smith, Olivia Smith, Brooke Marchewka, Reegan Marchewka, and Kaylee Burdick.
A celebration of Peggy's life will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2025, from 1p.m. to 4 p.m., at Club La Mark, 1525 N. Stoughton Rd, Madison.
