Mary Jo Bronson, age 69, of Madison, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at UW Hospital after a brief battle with lung cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Mary Jo was born on July 3, 1956, in Madison, Wis., the daughter of Richard and Phyllis (Moran) Morehouse. She graduated from Monona Grove High School in 1975 and married the love of her life, Mark Bronson, on March 28, 1981.
Mary Jo worked for many years at C.L. Swanson’s, where she was a valued employee. Known for her feisty spirit and quick wit, she brought laughter and warmth to everyone around her. She loved painting with her friends, cheering for her beloved Green Bay Packers, bowling, camping with her family, and spending time with her grand pups, Tony and Zoey.
Above all else, Mary Jo treasured her family. Her greatest joy came from being a grandmother - her grandkids were truly her world.
Mary Jo is survived by her daughters, Donna (John) Schaefer, Lisa (Jose), Jessica (James) Tomasik, and Debbie Jo (Tyson Meier); grandchildren, Tyson, Dylan, Hannah, Connor, Stephanie and Shelby; and siblings, Deborah (Bob) Skaggs, Maria (Scott) Berryman, and Chris Bronson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Bronson, and her parents.
Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at ALL FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4058 Lien Rd., Madison. A celebration of Mary Jo’s life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the UW Cancer Team, as well as the nurses and doctors who cared for her during her stay.
Mary Jo will be remembered for her kindness, laughter, and her unwavering love for her family and friends.
