Laurie Boss passed away peacefully at her home in Verona on December 22, 2025. She was 88 years old.
Laurie was born in Racine, Wis., on May 14, 1937, to Leo and Evelyn (Wheeler) Lacaskey. She graduated from Racine Park High School, where she took art classes at the local community college.
Laurie married David Pappas on November 23, 1956. Together they moved to Washington DC to build David’s career as a young lawyer, working under the Kennedy administration. Later returning to Wisconsin and settling in Madison, continuing his legal career. They raised two children, Christopher and Andrea, where Laurie was a homemaker and mother. Divorced in 1965, Laurie started her career as a Visual Display Director for Yost’s. She continued her profession with Yost’s for over 45 years. She also worked as a bridal consultant at the Walnut Grove store in Madison. She married Ken Boss in 1989, and both were avid collectors of antiques.
Laurie had a flair for fashion and design. She also loved to garden at their country home and had a fondness for cooking. In her later years, she enjoyed shopping, knitting, crossword puzzles and her many books and magazines.
Laurie is survived by her daughter, Andrea, and her son-in-law, Dan Atkins.
A Celebration of Laurie’s Life will be held later in the spring for friends and family.
