Jon Michael Larson, age 67, passed away at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison on the morning of Friday, June 27, 2025, at 8:20 a.m. - leaving behind a space no one else can fill.
Born in Madison on July 10, 1957, Jon lived with a fire that never dimmed. He was loyal to the people he loved, full of life in every room he walked into, compassionate to the core, and a leader who earned respect through love and action. He didn’t just show up for others, he lived through them. Jon always said he was here to be a "servant to his family and community".
Jon served six years in the United States Marine Corps, with deployments in Vietnam, Okinawa, and the Philippines. Jon embodied this chapter of life that shaped his grit and sense of purpose. After his service, he dedicated over four decades of hard work and pride into his career at Sub-Zero, becoming not just a person to count on, but a trusted friend and mentor to many.
Jon’s truest legacy was in how he showed up for his people. Whether cheering on a game, cracking a joke at just the right time, or offering advice that came straight from the heart, he had a way of making others feel seen, safe, and supported. He was a sports lover, a fisherman, and a golfer, as well as a role model, and a rock. His impact runs deeper than any words could ever portray.
Jon is survived by the love of his life, Pam Larson; his sons, Jason Larson (Elisa Weier) and Cody Hanson (Marwah); his fur baby, Levi; as well as his brothers, Tom (Paula), Bob (Bobbi), and Doug (Karen), who shared both memories and plenty of mischief with him over the years. Jon now reunites and was welcomed with open arms by his parents, Robert Larson and Doris Erickson; sister-in-law, Debbie Bagby; and brother-in-law, Jerry Leuzinger.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at the EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH (ELC), 315 W. Main St., Mount Horeb, with military honors concluding the service. Fellowship and lunch to follow.
We’ll gather not just to grieve, but to celebrate a man who lived big, loved hard, and left this world better than he found it.
