PARDEEVILLE/MADISON - Janet M. Hasse, 90, of Pardeeville and formerly of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at the UW Hospital in Madison, Wis. Janet was born on August 11, 1934 in Rhinelander, Wis, graduated from Milwaukee West Division High School in 1952, and went on to receive her Teaching Degree from State College of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in June, 1956.
Janet met her husband-to-be, Marvin Hasse, at a New Year’s Eve dance held at the River View Ballroom in Sauk City. They corresponded through letters while he was away serving his country in Tokyo, Japan during the Korean War. After Marvin returned from Tokyo, he and Janet were married in 1956 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hillpoint, Wis. Throughout Marvin’s time with the Air Force, the family was stationed at: Fort Snelling, Minn., Truax Field in Madison, Wis., Chanute AFB, Rantoul, Ill.; and, Ellsworth AFB, S. Dak. Marvin then left the Air Force to join the U.S. Weather Bureau as a forecaster, taking the family to Rapid City, SD; North Platte, Neb., and finally returning to Madison, Wis., in 1969.
Janet spent her adult years as a full-time housekeeper (domestic engineer), mother and wife. She loved traveling to visit family and friends while sightseeing and taking time to enjoy good food and an occasional gin & tonic. She loved watching Game Shows, Lawrence Welk, all forms of Wisconsin sports and was a particularly avid fan of the Packers, Badgers and Brewers. She spent her last years still in the home she shared with Marvin, still keeping her own house, cooking her own meals, reading the newspaper or doing word puzzles in her sun room, watching the neighborhood traffic outside her front windows, and providing a daily bounty of gourmet feeds to the local deer, cranes, turkeys, squirrels, chipmunks, and assorted local bird species.
Janet was preceded in death by her loving husband, Marvin; her parents, Raymond and Catherine Rosio; her brothers, Roland (Maria) Rosio, Richard (Kay) Rosio, Eugene (Ruth) Rosio, Dale (Joyce) Rosio; her brothers-in-law Orlen (Norma) Hasse, Henry (Jean) Bredemann, Earl (Carla) Hasse, and Norm (Linda) Dulak; her sisters-in-law, Norma and Jean Hasse, Kay, Ruth, Joyce, Audrey and Maria Rosio; and her grandson, Spencer Zuelsdorf.
