Gary A. Thompson

SUN PRAIRIE – Gary A. Thompson, age 67 of Sun Prairie, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. He was born in Madison on Dec. 16, 1958, the son of LeRoy and Elizabeth (Wipperfurth) Thompson.

A graduate of Madison East High School, Gary worked as a durable medical specialist, helping many people regain their independence. He was happiest when he was hunting, fishing, gardening and camping.

Gary is survived by his wife, Barbara, whom he married on August 8, 1987, in Deerfield, Wis. Additionally, he is survived by his son, Bill Thompson; sisters, Vicki (Dave) Prochaska and Kathy Thompson; and many special nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In accordance with Gary’s wishes, no formal services will be held.

Rest in peace Gary. You will be missed by loved ones, friends, and especially your hunting dog, Tillie.
