Bradyn Michael Austin, age 55 of Madison, passed away at his home on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. He was born in Elmira, New York on September 2, 1970, to Penny Andrews and Stephen Austin.
He was loved deeply by family, friends, and a wide network of people who benefited from his skills and generosity. Bradyn measured success in love. The absolute center of his life were his children, Bradyn Jr. and Melody. The three became a warm core, generating the light – and heat - that comes with single parenting.
He steadfastly resisted the structures of traditional education and employment. He learned by watching and doing, missteps and grace. Bradyn worked with his hands but led with his heart. Clients came to know his skill and his soul. He listened well, spoke plainly, and was generous with mercy and patience.
He had a quirky sense of humor, and only those who listened carefully got his jokes. He binged old TV series, faithfully fed his raccoon family, loved all things Makita, and was dubbed a MotorStorm legend by club members.
Bradyn wrote in August to a friend, “My life is pretty good…and I keep it pretty simple.” He told family recently he didn’t know what his legacy would be. His legacy is love.
A time of remembrance for Bradyn will be held at a later date.
