Barbara A. Quamme

Barbara A. Quamme, age 79 formerly of Prairie du Chien, passed away at Lilac Springs Assisted Living in Lake Mills on Friday, July 10, 2026. She was born in Sheboygan, Wis., on January 31, 1947, the daughter of Gilbert and Betty Nottling.

Barbara graduated from Sun Prairie High School in 1965 and attended UW-Oshkosh. She married Roger H. Quamme in Sun Prairie on August 22, 1970, and they settled in Prairie du Chien where they raised their family.

She was an avid gardener and loved spending time outdoors. Barbara and Roger were both huge Badger football fans, and were longtime season ticket holders in Sec. X.

Barbara is survived by her three children, Chad (Aaron Scott) Quamme, Denise (Jim) Baures, and Andy (Sue) Quamme; sister, Sherrie Oswald; granddaughters, Abigail, Evelyn, Mallory, Grace and Gabi; along with many other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger in 2006; twin sister, Bonnie McElmurry; and her parents, Betty and Merle Fitzgerald, and Gilbert Nottling.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at ALL FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4058 Lien Rd., Madison, with visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Private inurnment of Roger and Barbara will be in the Spring Prairie Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Keyser at a later date.

A heartfelt thank you to Lilac Springs, especially Desiree and Penny, for all they did for the care they provided Barbara over her last days.
