VERONA - Darwin R. Peterson, age 76, passed away Friday, July 30, 2010 at his home in Verona surrounded by his family. He was born at home May 1, 1934 in Blue Earth, MN the son of Orlo and Marian (Bergsetter) Peterson. Darwin graduated Valedictorian from Blue Earth High School in 1952. He served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1957. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1958. He married Alice Manske on June 22, 1956 in Blue Earth, MN; for fifty four years. He worked in sales for ten years before becoming a purchasing rep for Miles Laboratory in Elkhart, IN. He then worked as Director of Purchasing for Rayovac Corp. for fifteen years. Darwin was an avid reader, fisherman, coin collector and private pilot. He was also a Master Bridge Player. Together he loved traveling with his wife around the country and world. Darwin is survived by his wife Alice Peterson of Verona, WI; His children Scott (Heidi) Peterson, of Bloomington, MN; Randy (Janelle) Peterson, of Platteville, WI; Jennifer (Scott) Faralli, of Madison, WI; one brother, Boyd (Opal) Peterson, of Brownsburg, IN; three grandchildren, Nolan, Blake, Sydney. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Larold and one grandson Jonathan. Funeral services will be held at ASBURY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 6101 University Ave., Madison, on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at 2 p.m. Visitation will be on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund is being established in memory of Darwin. Darwin's family wishes to express their grateful appreciation to HospiceCare, Inc. and Dr. McFarland at UW Cancer Center for their exceptional care of Darwin.
